Collagen Induction Therapy
(Derm Roller/Microneedling)

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), also known as medical skin needling or micro-needling, is a new minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body. The treatment uses medical grade tiny needles or micro-needles that is moved over the skin to create tiny, evenly-spaced micro puncture wounds on the skin. This process stimulates the body's natural collagen and elastin production as a response to wound healing. As the wounds heal, remodeling and restructuring of the damaged layers of the skin take place. New collagen and elastin are produced creating a new healthy and younger looking skin. The procedure is effective in treating unsightly scars, acne marks, stretch marks, and wrinkles. It can be performed on the face and body

• How It's Done:

Before the treatment, the face is cleaned with facial antiseptic toner. Then, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied. When the area has been numbed, the device is gently rolled over the skin to create multiple tiny puncture wounds. Treatment is virtually painless and can take anywhere between 10-60 minutes depending on the area to be treated.

• What to expect after the treatment:

TCAs are commonly used for medium-depth peeling to treat fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problem. TCAs are the preferred chemical solution for darker-skinned patients and may be used on the neck and other areas of the body. The treatment take 10-15 minutes. Compared to AHA's, TCA peel produces visible peeling that may last for 2 to 3 days. For the body, peeling may last for a week.

• What are the risks and complications:

Risks associated with medical skin needling are minimal and are temporary, These include redness, rarely bruising, dry skin, or slight discolouration post-treatment. All these may last no more than a week.
